Radiation Protection & Cable Routing

Power, data and control cables had to be routed through meter-thick heavy concrete bunker walls. Conventional straight-through penetrations were strictly prohibited due to the risk of radiation leakage.

Grid Stability & Power Quality

The highly precise, AI-assisted linear accelerator is extremely sensitive to even minor voltage fluctuations or harmonic distortions caused by normal hospital operations, such as MRI scanners or elevators.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) & Data Integrity

High-frequency microwaves and strong magnetic fields generated by the LINAC posed a risk of interfering with the sensitive real-time calculations required for online adaptive radiotherapy (oART) and image reconstruction.

Operational Safety & System Cooling

The significant heat generation of the accelerator requires continuous cooling. At the same time, any malfunction, sensor failure, or unauthorized opening of the bunker door during operation must trigger an immediate and safe shutdown.

Radiation Protection & Cable Routing

EAB installed the entire cable infrastructure through geometrically Z-shaped labyrinth penetrations (maze-type cable entries) within the concrete structure. After cable installation, all remaining cavities were permanently sealed with high-density radiation-shielding insulation materials to ensure uninterrupted structural radiation protection.

Grid Stability & Power Quality

Installation of a dedicated double-conversion online UPS system (Uninterruptible Power Supply) combined with active power filters. The system creates a technical “power island”, completely isolating the LINAC from the hospital's electrical network and ensuring a continuously clean and stable sine-wave power supply.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) & Data Integrity

Strict physical separation of cable routes for power distribution and data communication. For high-speed image transmission, EAB installed interference-resistant fiber-optic cabling instead of copper cables. In addition, a large-scale star-configured equipotential bonding system was implemented to safely dissipate electromagnetic interference currents.

Operational Safety & System Cooling

Construction of a fail-safe interlock safety circuit. EAB integrated all bunker door contacts, emergency-stop switches, and the digital flow and temperature sensors of the cooling water system directly into the control system. In the event of any irregularity, the power supply to the radiation head is electrically disconnected within milliseconds.
