Powering community through solar innovation

Challenge

The Tyrolean municipality of Absam pursues an ambitious energy policy and consistently favours renewable energy sources. As part of the sustainable energy supply, the building yard was to be equipped with a high-performance photovoltaic system - including an intelligent storage solution for supplying energy at night. One particular challenge was not only to utilise the solar power generated locally, but also to share it within the community - via a newly established energy community. The aim was to find a technical solution that combines high energy efficiency, reliability and sustainability in one system.

Solution

SYNECOTEC took over the complete planning and technical realisation of the new photovoltaic system at the Absam building yard - in close coordination with the municipality.

The result: a modern system with an output of 264 kWp, coupled with two battery storage units with a total capacity of 400 kWh. The smart combination of generation and storage maximises self-consumption: Electricity produced during the day is stored and is also available at night - reliably, effi ciently and CO₂-free. By establishing a local energy community, the electricity generated is also distributed within the municipality. In future, other municipal buildings will also benefit from the system - with noticeably lower energy costs, greater independence from the electricity market and an active contribution to climate protection.
